Deadline for Transportation Requests Extended

As per New York State, all applications are due April 1, 2021. If you have not already submitted your request, you may do so by mailing your request to Freeport Public Schools or emailing your request to [email protected].  

For Residents Residing in a Flood Zone

If the streets become flooded making roads impassible, school buses will not be able to get to students' assigned bus stops. If possible, students should go to any corner north of the flood zone, where they will be picked up by a school bus.

Transportation Policies

School bus transportation is provided to students meeting the following eligibility guidelines as specified by the Board of Education.

Pre-K & Kindergarten …………………………..1/4 mile or more
Grades 1-4…………………………………………….1/2 mile or more
Grades 5-6…………………………………………….1 mile or more
Grades 7-12……………………………………………1 ½ miles or more

K-12 students are eligible for out- of-district transportation if the out-of-district program is within 15 miles of the student's residence as well as adhering to the mileage policy above.. Pre-Kindergarten students attending out-of-district programs are not eligible for transportation. The Transportation Department will mail transportation applications for the upcoming school year to parents of students currently attending private/parochial school in February. Applications must be filed with the Transportation Department by the April 1st deadline.  

 

Approved  Requests for Transportation Changes

When the request for a change is approved, your child will be issued a new bus pass from their school building.

Once the new pass comes home, the change to bus transportation takes place the following day.

Please attach the bus pass to your child’s backpack.
